In the beginning . . .

Some people embrace new beginnings and others try and hide from anything new.

To have a closer walk with Christ we need to put old habits behind us and begin new ones. Many “long-time” Christians think this should be done immediately – that you are not a “true” Christian if you still have items in your life that are not Christ-like.

The difficult thing is, we are “only” human.” We are not a light switch that can be instantly changed. If this were not true, Jesus would not have had to die for us – we would never sin and would be Christ-like in all ways.

Philippians 3:13-14

13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

We have done as instructed and confessed our belief the Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, died for us and on the third day rose, we are full of hope and faith – then Satin’s obstacles start to appear – we start to wonder if we are truly saved.

1 Corinthians 9:24

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

No matter what you have been told – we will NEVER be perfect while we are here on Earth – what we can be are learners.  Learners of God’s Word – learning that with each day we can do the things that are pleasing to God – learning how to live a life that is Christ-like.

Do not give up your faith or hope because someone says things that are discouraging or puts themselves out to be better Christians because of their acts.

Lamentations 3:22

The unfailing love of the LORD never ends! By his mercies we have been kept from complete destruction. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each day. I say to myself, "The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!"

Allow God to mold you in his time and become a vessel for his use. Let Him deal with people that feel it is their right to judge you.

Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

  1. Lovely post. I agree with you. CS Lewis wrote an amazing book called "Mere Christianity." In it, he tells us that we cannot judge another person because we don't know where they are on their spiritual journey. You go- always forward....God will bless your efforts!
