Stepping Up. . .

Have you ever been asked to do something you have never done before that is out of your comfort zone?

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Do you make excuses not to serve or use your talents? Do you try to make your own plans and set your own guidelines?

Jeremiah 29:11

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

How do we know when God is calling us, and is there any way we can be sure we're doing the task he has assigned us?

Romans 12:6-8

6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Throughout our life, God's calling will bring great challenges. We can't succeed on our own. Only through the constant guidance and help of the Holy Spirit will we be able to carry out your God’s calling for us.

Most of us don't recognize our calling overnight; rather, God reveals it to us gradually over the years. As we use our talents and gifts to serve others, we discover certain types of works that feels natural. These works bring us a deep sense of fulfillment and happiness. You will have the feeling that you know this is what we were meant to do.

1 Peter 4:10

10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

There are many behind-the-scenes opportunities for volunteers. These tasks might be at the church or done at home, a solo commitment or part of a team. We are called for a holy and noble purpose! We were put on earth to make a contribution. God designed us to make a difference with our life.

Ephesians 6:7

7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people,
